Description of nanotechnology:-

The word 'Nano' is a Greek prefix which signifies a 'bollionth' (i.e.one billionth of a meter is the unit of measure in the field of nanotechnology) and one nanometer (nm) is one billionth of a meter. An atom is smaller than a nanometer but a molecule can be larger than this measure.


'Technology' also comes from the Greek word 'technologia' that refer to modification of material objects of nature by human to meet their needs and wants.



Nanotechnology is the engineering of functional system at the molecular scale and covers the concept of both current and advanced works. So it is the future manufacturing technology that will make most products lighter, stronger, cleaner, less expensive and more precise.


In short nanotechnology is the nanometer scale technology which means any thing smaller than 100 nanometers with novel properties.
